Nicholson McLaren Engines (NME) was founded in 1972 by John Nicholson to maintain
the Cosworth DFV engines for McLaren Racing. McLaren’s F1 World Championship wins
in 1974 and 1976 with their drivers James Hunt and Emerson Fittipaldi were powered
by NME. Further successes followed through the 80’s and 90’s in F3000 and Group C2
Le Mans, this success continues today with wins in Historic Formula One and 2010
Champions in , The MSA Hill Climb Championship and in the National Sprint Series.
Based
near Wokingham in Berkshire, NME have the facility to design components, build engines,
develop existing engines, manufacture components and maintain or repair competition
race engines.
NME is capable of providing a project management package for all engine
types, petrol, diesel & alternative fuels.
At our factory near Wokingham we have in
house dynamometer test cells with climate control which are available for confidential
engine testing only (if required), plus test rigs for dynamic valve train and airflow
rigs. NME also has balancing equipment for crank shafts and cam shafts and in house
NDT and dye pen crack testing facility.
In addition to the above facilities our Alternative Fuel Department is involved in
the development of systems to convert petrol driven vehicles to operate on Liquefied
Petroleum Gas (LPG). NME import the tried and tested Dutch SGi components and develop
conversion systems for UK vehicles. These kits are then supplied to customers via
approved installers throughout the UK.
NME projects include R&D, design, manufacture,
build and development of new performance engines, plus further developments in the
field of alternative fuels or electric vehicles.
